How do I reduce the space around a checkbox to tighten up a table?

You can use the CSS property margin:  to tighten the space between the 
checkbox & the text something like style="margin: -3px;" you can not 
however control the line height of a checkbox with HTML or CSS
You can also set display: inline. If you do the -3px margin, your 
checkbox will look wrong in NS6.
