How do I converyt MS Access databases to work with mySQL

There is a utility that makes this pretty simple called MyAccess. A
nagware version is available for download and a single user
registration, at the time of this writing anyway, was $30.
It allows you to create or use prevously created tables in Access and
connect to the MySQL database via ODBC and converts it for you.
If you don't have access to ODBC on your server for your MySQL
database, you could also install the open source PHPTriad that
includes
mySQL, create the database locally, and then create dump files to
recreate your database on your server.
Be aware when tranferring significant amounts of data from Access to
mySQL via a dump that you may have to add a backslash before
special characters in the data to "escape" them (such as apostrophes).
So if your address field has "Saint Luke's Place" in it, you'll have
to
edit your dump sql file in notepad/equivelant to this: "Saint Luke\'s
Place" to avoid an error.
To import MS Access to MySQL databases by GUI, you could try to
download PremiumSoft Navicat (http://www.navicat.com) or EMS MySQL
tool
(http://www.ems-hitech.com/mymanager). They both support to
import/export MS Access files.
