problem with growing memory in javascript page

Here's the problem.  I have a javascript script that allocates a 
bunch of memory with new Array() and then redirects back to itself.
No recursion.  There is supposed to be garbage collection and the
space is supposed to not grow over time, but I see it keep growing.
Eventually the Netscape browser crashes, although there is no 
problem in IE.
Also I just see the problem if there is a frameset.  No frameset,
no continued memory growth.
