How Do I Make an Alias With Periods in It?

Suppose you run the example.tld domain, and you have a user, Jane Doe, 
with the account jdoe. You want her to be able to receive mail as 
jane.doe@example.tld as well as jdoe@example.tld. However, when you 
create the alias ~alias/.qmail-Jane.Doe, it doesn't work.
For security reasons, qmail-local doesn't process dots (periods) in 
alias names. Instead, it interprets a colon (:) in the alias filename as 
if it were a dot.
Furthermore, it interprets capital letters in the filename as matching 
_only_ capitals, while lowercase letters are subject to 
case-blind matching. You want the alias filename to be .qmail-jane:doe, 
which will accept incoming mail for Jane.Doe, jane.Doe, Jane.doe and 
jane.doe.
