How can I edit the popular DOC or eBook files on my pda?
How can I edit files that are larger than the 4 KB limit that Palm's builtin MemoPad program has?

There are very few good FREE programs for doing this. But, I have
searched far and wide and have found a couple of handy little tools
that take care of this task nicely. They are QED and QEX.
Another great feature is QED's ability to extend the right margin way
out past the edge of the screen. This is sort of like turning word
wrap off. This is a great feature if you plan on editing code or other
types of formatted text.
QEX is a tool for converting text files to doc files that can are
installed on your palm when you HotSync. You can also use QEX to
convert the palm doc file back to a text document that you can use on
your pc. However, it is important to remember that the doc file is
sent to the ‘C:\Program Files\Palm\yourusername\Backup’ folder after a
HotSync and the file will end with the extension .prc or .pdb. You
will have to track down that file when you convert the file from the
PDA back to a text file.

This is the editor that runs on your PDA. You will have to install
this to your PDA.

These tools are shareware and will nag you to register, but the nags
are not bad at all. I am very picky about shareware and I find the
little nags while I am editing to be acceptable. There is a small
registration fee if you want to rid the program of the nag screens that
pop up while you are editing a doc file. These nags don’t display when
you are only reading a document – only when you edit.
The QEX program is a bit hard to use. I have been using a tool called
MakeDocW for converting text files to doc files. MakeDocW does not,
however, convert from doc files to text files. So you still need QEX
even if you do use MakeDocW for going from PC to Palm.
You can download MakeDocW at:
