on calling applet method from javascript it says "object doesnt support method".Any help?

Well, that's pretty hard to debug without any code *g*
It could be one of the following:
- you forgot to add "mayscript" to your applet-tag
- your browser does not support live-connect (e.g. NN6.x)
- your applet doesn't "import netscape.javascript.JSObject;"
- you have a typo in your source (either applet or js) and thus are 
trying to call a non existing method
That's basically it. If you need further help, plz post some code.
