COM does not work with PHP... not getting any error messages... php just "hangs"

It seems that running multiple PHP scripts simultaneously (when at 
least one of them use the COM in its code) by a single process is 
somewhat buggy. The hanging is avoided when PHP is used as a CGI app. 
Inefficient solution, but works though :-).
I have also found that the COM object is locked up.  This causes all
future accesses to the COM object to fail as well.
