My php code is not able to retireve values from an HTML form. What could be the reason.

First check what version of PHP you are using. Starting version 4.2 the 
register_globals is set by default to 'off'. In short, if foo is a 
variable defined on the form, then $foo will not exist automatically.
This is the case in 90% of the cases.
