How can I verify the existence of an email address?

You cannot verify an e-mail address unless you send a mail to that
particular address and the mail servers (outgoing and incoming) doesnt
give you a failure (within a specific time interval). 
As a practise, everybody just verifies whether the mail address entered
has an '@' symbol and may be a '.' within the string.
