Does firewalls prevent viruses and is hacking and viruses the same thing?

Feb 1st, 2007 21:04
Crick Dougles, Geir Pedersen, kishore kumar,

Firewalls does not prevent email viruses. In order to stop email
viruses you need to use an email virus filter. This is something your
ISP usually offers so that the ISP filters all email for viruses
before
it arrives in your inbox. If you are using a web based email service,
like Hotmail, you should make sure that a virus filtering service is
included.
Hacking is a common word for breaking into a computer over the
Internet. A firewall will protect your computer from break in
attempts.
A firewall may be in the form of software installed on your PC or
Linux
computer or a separate box you install between your computer(s) and
the
Internet. It is important that the firewall is correctly configured
and
that you regularly check for updates to the firewall software.
