does connection.rollback work even after setting auto commit as false

I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but the default behaviour in MySQL,
regardless of AUTOCOMMIT is to rollback ALL open transactions if the
connection is closed or aborted without a COMMIT or ROLLBACK being issued.
