Why are my (") preceded by a (\) when I use the post function in PHP? Is there a way to halt this?

Matt Chatterley, Ben Kress,

The 'magic quotes GPC' setting is probably switched on for your
installation of PHP - this is a good thing! If you need to be sure a
string does not contain these slashes, you can pass it through the
function stripslashes() before making use of it.
