I am using php mail() function to send a mail. but get a error message "undefined mail() function".

The most likely reason for this is that PHP has been compiled without 
the mail function, possibly for security reasons.
Best bet is to ask your network administrator if it has been switched 
off.  If you are the network admin, try recompiling PHP.
