Database: Definition: What is a database?
---
A database is a set of related files that is created and managed by a
database management system (DBMS).
A DBMS can manage any form of data including text, images, sound and
video.
Database and file structures are always determined by the software.
As far as the hardware is concerned, it is all bits and bytes.
---
---
A database is an organized collection of data used for the purpose of
modeling some type of organization or organizational process.
It really does not matter whether you are using paper or a computer
software program to collect and store the data.
As long as you are gathering data in some organized manner for a
specific purpose, you have got a database.
