How would you convert a string to uppercase characters?

The strtoupper( )function converts a string to uppercase characters.
$mystring="this is a string";
$newstring=strtoupper($mystring);
echo $newstring;
Results in:
  THIS IS A STRING
u can also try.....
mystring="vishwambhari"
newstring=ucase(mystring) 
response.write newstring
Result:VISHWAMBHARI
