Which tags should I use, <?php ?> or <? ?>?

Both set of tags do the same thing, except <? is a short tag and can be 
disabled in php configurations (php.ini).  One reason one may disable 
short tags is to allow XML, so <?xml will work.  Have a look here :

Using <?php also follows the up-and-coming PEAR standard, which can be
