"Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysql_connect()....."getting this error

Most times if you have an error like this it will be due to wrong 
compilation 
of php. If you get the phpinfo page correctly then it will due to the 
mysql 
support given to php. 
The chance is that php will be compiled with mysqli support. You can 
see this 
in phpinfo page. So you have to chage the mysql functions to mysqli 
functions.
ie as mysql_connect() to mysqli_connect().
But the point to note is that the syantaxs are different for some 
function 
between mysql and mysqli functions.
