How can I get a tooltip for a FORM element, e.g. a checkbox?

Just like the person said below, put the TITLE attribute on ALMOST
ANYTHING you want a tooltip from:
<p title="this is a paragraph">
<table title="this is a table">
Also, a neat trick is to implement a return ie. have 2 lines of
sentences in a tooltip. See this:
<input type="checkbox" title="(my website)
welcome to my website">
Did you notice that I pressed ENTER after the (my website)...? This
would result in a tooltip that displays:
[-----------------------]
[ (my website)          ]
[ welcome to my website ]
[-----------------------]

P.S.: Tooltips are a hassle; you'd have to tell your visitors such
as "tooltips will pop-up if you put mouse over any item and wait 2
seconds".
I suggest the use of Overlib by Bosrup, an instant popup tooltip. Go
search in Google for that.

NN6 and IE4+ allow that easily with the TITLE attribute:
<FORM NAME="formName">
Do you believe in GOD?
<INPUT TYPE="checkbox" NAME="god" VALUE="Kibo" TITLE="Kibo is GOD">
</FORM>
With NN4 and many complications you can use layers to provide a
tooltip. Check
