Total Commander: How to change your source code directly on your web
site using your editor? [ftp]
===
A possible solution to alter your source code directly on your web
site:
Steps: Overview:
1. -Download and install Total Commander (http://www.ghisler.com)
2. -In menu option 'Configuration'->'Options'->'Editor' choose
possibly your favorite text editor (click '>>' to choose the file
path to your text editor)
3. -Click the 'ftp' button->'Edit'->fill in the data for your ftp
connection (e.g. 'my ftp my provider session',
ftp://myprovider.com, user name, password ->button'OK')
4. -Connect to your ftp site (by clicking the 'ftp' button, choosing
your ftp site, button 'Connect')
5. -Goto and select the file you want to edit (e.g. myfilename.htm)
6. -Press button '<F4> Edit' to edit your file
7. -This file will be loaded in your (external) text editor (possibly
make a backup first before trying the first time)
8. -Edit your file and save it in your text editor
9. -If the file has changed by you, Total Commander will ask to upload
it, and overwrite it (yes)
10. -The file will be uploaded
11. -If you type the address of this file in your web browser (e.g.
http://www.mywebsite.com/myfilename.htm) you see the result
directly in your browser
12. -Possibly repeat steps 5 to 11
