Choosing a good college student credit card should not be hard as long
as one keeps in mind the reason for getting it. In most cases this
reason should be nothing else but establishing new credit history.
College student credit cards, in a sense, are just like the credit
cards for bad credit: the terms are not so great, APR is somewhat
high, and intro period usually will not exceed 6 months. Therefore it
does not leave much of a choice in terms of usage for such a card.
The best practice would be to charge less and pay it off right away.
Out of all said above the advice on picking the right college student
credit card will be as follows:
Choose the card with the lowest APR, especially if there is a chance
that you may not be able to pay off full amount of balance on the
account every month. Otherwise some extra features may be considered
as well, such as cash back and other rewards programs, discount at
particular merchant locations and websites. These feature should
never be a priority over the low interest rate if you have the
smallest doubt about your ability to pay off the card for. They will
become incentives for you to spend more. As a result, very soon you
may find yourself deep in credit card debt.
Be wise making your choices. Good luck!
