Tea comprises of essential oils, caffeine, and polyphenols, with oils
contributing to its distinctive odor, caffeine stimulating the nervous
system, and polyphenols contributing towards its anti oxidant
properties. Tea can be classified into the following four categories
Black tea: This tea is withered, dried and oxidized, and gives amber
brew. Darjeeling tea and the English breakfast are some of its
examples.
White tea: A rare type coming from China, it is the least processed tea
in the world. Though it is withered and dried by steaming, it is not
rolled or oxidized.
Green tea: This one too, is withered and dried but not oxidized. It is
distinguished by its pale green colored brew.
Oolong tea: This tea is partially oxidized, withered and dried. In
color and taste, it is a hybrid of the green and black varieties of tea.
