SMTP connections that engage in dictionary style systematic attacks are 
called directory harvest attacks. Spammers use such attacks to obtain 
valid e-mail addresses. Messages are sent out to valid domains under 
randomly generated names, and this name is assumed to be genuine if the 
message does not return.
