Bhavna,
     First you create a reference to he form field:
var fld = document.forms['formName'].elements['fieldName'];
     Then, there are two choices for hidding a text box:
fld.style.visibility = 'hidden';
fld.style.visibility = 'visible';
fld.style.display = 'none';
fld.style.display = 'inline';
