PageRank and Link Popularity are two different concepts which are often
mistaken. While PageRank is an outcome of the volume of links to a
webapage, link popularity is the result of quality of links from the
theme related sites, and is fundamentally linked to search engine
optimization. Typically, the concept of PageRank toolbar belongs to
Google search engine. Google considers the number of inbound links to a
webpage before assigning a specific PageRank to a webpage. However, the
quality of inbound links plays a vital role in deciding the search
engine ranking of a webpage among all other factors.
It should be remembered that link popularity has much more importance as
this is the single most factor that is responsible for increasing the
search engine visibility of your webpage which, in turn, drives traffic
to your websites, leading to increase in sales.
