across the globe and it’s still going strong. Thousands of companies and
millions of individual users are dependent on open source software
applications. Here are a few statistics that substantiate the above facts.
• Approximately, 7 out of 10 websites around the world are served by the
Open Source Apache 
• A survey recently conducted shows that over 31% of UK and nearly 42%
of German companies use HTTPD server
• Debian (an Open Source Operating System) has over 55 millions lines of
code and is estimated to have consumed over 14, 000 people in
development time. The development cost around 1.89 billion USD, and yet
it is offered without any license fees.
