Resident Indian citizens are eligible under the scheme of Basic Travel Quota to avail of foreign exchange up to US Dollars 5,000 or the equivalent for undertaking one or more private visits to any country abroad (except Nepal and Bhutan) in any calendar year. Foreign nationals permanently resident in India are also eligible for Basic Travel Quota. Under BTQ, foreign exchange up to US$ 500 is released in the form of foreign currency notes /coins and the balance is released in the form of Traveler’s Cheques.
