As a search engine Yahoo is older in than MSN and has larger share of
internet search engine market. While Yahoo holds around 25% of the total
share of search engine market, the same for MSN is only 15%. However,
compared to the most advanced search engine such as Google, both MSN and
Yahoo are a far-cry from improved search features and often fail to
produce quality search results.
For Yahoo, inclusion of keywords in the Title Tag holds immense
importance, whereas MSN favors the domains or URLs that are inclusive of
keywords. Besides, MSN bot spiders new sites quicker than Yahoo. MSN
also is biased towards the including of keywords in the content of the
webpage. Hence, SEO professionals can easily manipulate this factor by
stuffing keywords which could easily be considered as spam technique in
other search engines.
Moreover, when it comes to the number of links, MSN doesn’t seem to
matter MSN as much as it does Yahoo. Hence, a good number of inbound
links may influence MSN as much as it does Yahoo. However, Yahoo can not
gauge the quality of the inbound links like Google.
These differences bring phenomenal changes in the nature of results by
different search engines.
