Look up detachdb and atachedb in the SQL books online that will show
you how to do it.
----------------
Create a backup of the SQL database, the backup file will geberally be
in C:\mssql\backup, and will not have a file extension. Copy this to
your remote server and restore the database from the remote sql server
as follows.
To restore the file
1. Copy it onto your development server.
2. Open enterprise manager and tools restore database.
3. Type the name you want to restore the dabase to in 'Restore as
database'
4. Check the restore: From device radio box
5. Select Devices. Choose disk.
6. Pick the backup name from the location you copied it to under file
name.
7. OK OK to General tab. Do View contents and highlight the backup set
you want.
8. Into the options tab, and type the path you want to move the files
to on your development server in the move to physical file name fields.
9. Recovery completion state left at leave database operational.
10. OK. (phew) should now restore on your development server.
