Is there a way to log out of Zope without presenting a netscape dialog or killing the browser?

You can do it with one of the replacements for 'User Folder' - products
'GenericUserFolder' (aka 'GUF') or newer 'LoginManager', running in 
cookie mode.
GUF has method 'logout', LoginManager - 'logoutForm', you can custumize 
it to make right redirection.
