The Himalaya chain is spread southeast to northwest across the Asian
continent. What is called the ‘Indian Himalayas’ is that part of the
Himalayan chain which lies within Indian Territory. In the east, the
Indian Himalaya originates from a knot between Myanmar. China and India.
The chain continues to the border of Bhutan. Beyond that lies Sikkim,
home to many peaks including the world’s third highest, Kangchenjunga.
The Himalayan range west of Sikkim forms part of Nepal until you reach
the border of Kumaun and Garhwal. From here the Indian Himalayan chain
continues without a break through Kinnaur, Spiti, Ladakh and lastly East

With its high Himalayas that give rise to mighty rivers, snow covered
peaks, green and thick forests, fragrant blooms and paradisiacal
orchards, trekking in India, is a delightful experience. Views and
adventure is at its best in Sikkim as the visitors come close to nature
on one of the mountain treks of the region. Chhang is the local liquor
of the region made of fermented millet and is said to be the total
solution to all the tiredness and weariness of the eventful days. Said
to be the 'Valley of Fire', Sikkim or Denjong has some of the finest
treks including the one into the Kanchenjunga group, the third highest
mountain in the world. Seems to be floating above the clouds, fog and
mist helps in making the divine panoramic surroundings seem
surrealistic. Beautiful monasteries and Gompas add color to the white
surroundings of Leh and Ladakh treks. Sharing history, culture and treks
with Tibet, Ladakh seems to have unchanged over the years. Treks to
Zanskar offer glimpses of Tibetan Buddhism and colorful lifestyle of the
region.
