How can I simulate a link click event without using 'open' method but to navigate in the current window ?

May 3rd, 2001 05:20
Colin Fraser, sharon,

Why would you want to use Javascript for navigating within the current
window?
<a href="#gohere">link</a>
<a name="gohere"> </a>
In HTML this is a much simpler exercise. You dont have to simulate
anything.
Consider this while you are spewing over this answer, making things more
complex than they need be is slowing down the web, or worse, increasing
the chances of things going wrong in your page. Simplifying things does
not equate with simplistic, just optimization of an existing problem.
To me there is no point in opening a can with a sledgehammer.
