What is WAP?

Nov 21st, 2000 06:35
Michael Claßen,

WAP stands for Wireless Application Protocol. It is a widely adopted
standard for bringing the Web to non-PC devices such as mobile phones
and PDAs like the Palm.
WAP copies the Web model by providing the wireless equivalents of HTML
(Wireless Markup Language, WML), Javascript (WMLScript), GIF
(Wireless Bitmaps, WBMP) and HTTP on TCP/IP (the rest of WAP, a set of
components implementing a wireless transport protocol stack).
