The whole process in layed out on my website at
http://linux.carlits.co.za/phpapache.html
Please add questions there as well , to make PHP 4 and Apache more
enjoyable on LINUX !!
Hi: I followed your step to remove apache by using rpm -e apache-1.3.12-
25 with the exact same error that you describe but unfortunately, I
don't have those files (mod_ssl-2.6.6-25 and mod_perl-1.24-4) but the
remove doesn't remove it (rerun rpm -e apache-1.3.12-25, it still
there). I have mod_ssl-2.6.6 and mod_perl-1.24.-4 though since I had
installed apache-1.3.12 without first doing the rpm. Any idea how I
should get rid of this file or, it doesn't matter.
Thanks,
Hong
Hi There Hong..
Firstly you have to find out what version of apache is installed on
your server ( rpm -qa | grep apache ) , this should give you the exact
version of apache. Now type in ( rpm -e and exactely what it respnded
back.rpm )
It should give you an error about " breaking dependancy " , and give
you the rpm packages that is depended on apache. So now uninstall those
rpm's first 9 all the dependancies ) and then the last rpm that will be
removed is Apache. You have to start deleting the dependancy rpm's ,
and the end at Apache itself. Once apache is deleted , you can continue
with the compiling section
Hope this helps
