Is there a way to write queries with an editor like notepad? It sucks to start a long query over using ms-dos command line!

Go have a look for another CLI called 4DOS. It feels quite a lot more 
like Linux with tab-completion of filenames, easier editing and such.
You could also make access mysql using telnet with eg. SecureCRT but in 
that situation you'll depend much on the app you'd be connecting with.
