Komba - which is part of KDE - is a graphical client for finding and
browsing SMB shares. This application would be the best choice for
quickly scanning the network for Windows boxes. It is based on Samba.
Samba (www.samba.org) enables Linux computers to join Windows domains,
mount and access Windows shares and printer shares. Samba provides the
following tools (not complete):
smbtree is a smb browser program in text mode. It is similar to the
"Network Neighborhood" found on Windows computers. It prints a tree with
all the known domains, the servers in those domains and the shares on
the servers.
smbclient is a client for SMB/CIFS servers.Operations include things
like getting files from the server to the local machine, putting files
from the local machine to the server, retrieving directory information
from the server and so on.
smbmount mounts a Windows share into the Linux filesystem.
