In NS6.x, .innerHTML exists and is compatible with all IE versions use of it (on the contrary, there is no .outerHTML; nor .innerHTML neither .outerHTML are standard DOM properties, but .innerHTML, by far the most used of the two, was added to Mozilla for convenience.) In NS4.x there is no equivalent property. Hope this was helpful.
