How can I script sounds to coincide with animation events? (e.g. a machine gun firing)

The sequential nature of browsers, that is, the manner in which a 
browser implements instructions from a web page, means that instructions 
can only be implemented one at a time will never allow you to use 
Javascript to correlate sounds and images. You may have more luck using 
Macromedia's Flash then implementing the Flash object in your page.
