Can I retain form values when submitting to its self?

One solution is to submit to a hidden frame or iframe by setting the 
form's TARGET
e.g
<form action="submit.htm" target="myframe">
In this way your partially-filled form will remain intact, because it 
is not being replaced by the "action" page.
