I'm using a CD-ROM 2 instal Windows 2000 on a computer that's running another OS. How should I configure the hard-disk 2 simplify instalation process?

You simple should use a partition manager to add a FAT32 or NTFS 
partition to your existing hard disk, there is no need to use another 
hard disk of course unless you want it for another purposes.
The partition manager you would use depends on the OS that you use.
For an istance, if you are using Linux you can use fdisk (the same 
great fdisk DOS utility).
