How is OSP used in High Availability Environments?

Apr 10th, 2001 09:57
Engineer TCSI,

OSP uses industry-leading RDBMS technology with write-through caches to
minimize data-loss and maximize data-integrity in case of system
failure.
OSP uses nameservers which permit migration of object servers from one
CPU to another as part of either planned maintenance, or switch-over.
Object servers automatically register their locations on process
startup.
OSP systems are frequently deployed using RAID or mirrored third-party
disk systems. HA solutions deploy with dual-ported disks.
OSP systems have been deployed using Sun's Solstice HA and HP's
ServiceGuard solutions.
Customer experience ...
Bell Atlantic has deployed with Solstice HA,
ServiceGuard has been "tightly" integrated on the CG Top500 project,
deployed at Telecom Italia.
ICONET project is "loosely" integrating ServiceGuard. Both products
provide detection of process failure and migration of processes to a
different physical CPU.
