Why Python?

Apr 10th, 2001 10:06
Engineer TCSI,

...don't just take our word for it:
"When TCSI first mentioned coding in Python, I was definitely sceptical
of 3Com's usage of this completely unknown (to us) OO scripting
language. We were a C++ house and felt we should play it safe and stick
with what we know as we had to get to market very quickly. Well, what
can I say except that if we did NOT use Python, we NEVER would have made
it to market in the timeframe we did.
It has been incredibly easy to learn and very productive. We are all
converts and all my C++ developers now prefer coding in Python over C++.
We had Mark Lutz in here for training and all felt that Python was
actually easy enough to learn that that training may not have been
needed, although I do recommend training. I consider my team to be
Pythonistas at this point!"
