What records do the various tinydns data lines generate?

May 1st, 2001 00:44
Brian Coogan, Jonathan De Boyne Pollard

Each line in the tinydns-data file ('data') may generate several
different records depending on the type of the line (denoted by the
first character, see the tinydns-data doco for more detail). Jonathan
de Boyne Pollard created this useful short summary of tinydns-data
record types and the DNS records each type generates:
  Type Creates these
  ------- -------------
  . SOA, NS, A
  & NS, A
  @ MX, A
  = PTR, A
  + A
  ' TXT
  ^ PTR
  C CNAME
  Z SOA
  : User-defined
The djbdns documentation for tinydns-data does describe all of this in
