Do I have to recompile PHP to use PayFlow Pro (libpfpro.so) Or can I use dl()

Have you tried dl()? If you can dl the module then you can use it. 
Otherwise, recompile. I'm assuming you're on unix. If you're on 
windows...um, yeah...
