How do I perform an incremental search?

Jun 16th, 2001 07:13
Per M Knutsen,

Type C-s. You will notice that I-Search appears on the mode line.
Enter the string you are searching for. To cancel the search, type C-g.
Always press RETURN once you've found the string you're looking for. If
you continue writing without pressing RETURN, emacs will start looking
for something else, and you'll get lost in your document again.
To perform a backward incremental search, use C-r (otherwise identical
to C-s)
